Ecovacs Winbot W2 Omni vs Hobot-2S: Full Comparison
Last updated: May 19, 2026 | Side-by-side spec comparison
Quick Summary
Ecovacs Winbot W2 Omni ($499) is the more advanced robot — dual battery for redundancy, optical + ultrasonic edge detection, and the Omni base station for refilling water. The Hobot-2S ($399) wins on ultrasonic spray quality (finer mist, less streaking) and is $100 cheaper. For tall residential glass, W2 Omni's safety redundancy is worth the premium; for occasional cleaning, Hobot-2S is the better value.

Safety: W2 Omni's Dual Battery
The Ecovacs Winbot W2 Omni has two internal batteries operating in parallel. If one fails during a run, the other keeps suction alive for at least 15 additional minutes — long enough to walk to the robot and tether-rescue it. The Hobot-2S has a single battery rated for 20 minutes of backup. Both rates are sufficient for typical use, but on a 5th-floor frameless window the redundancy is reassuring.

Spray System: Hobot's Edge
Hobot-2S uses an ultrasonic atomizer that produces a fine mist of cleaning solution. The mist coats the glass evenly with little overspray. Ecovacs W2 Omni uses a more conventional spray jet that produces droplets. The jet is faster (more solution per second) but can streak if the squeegee doesn't catch up. For finishing-quality cleaning, Hobot wins.
Omni Base Station
The Ecovacs W2 Omni ships with a small base station that holds 600 mL of cleaning solution. The robot returns to the base periodically to refill. For multi-window sessions (a whole house) this eliminates the manual refill step. The Hobot-2S requires you to manually open the tank and refill solution. For 1–2 windows the difference is trivial; for whole-home cleaning the W2 Omni saves real time.
Edge Detection on Frameless Glass
Both robots are rated for frameless glass per manufacturer. The W2 Omni's dual-sensor (ultrasonic + optical) edge detection is the more belt-and-suspenders approach — if one sensor is fooled by direct sunlight or pattern, the other catches the edge. The Hobot-2S relies on ultrasonic alone and is reliable in 95% of conditions but has reported edge over-runs in heavy frost.
Weight and Maneuverability
Hobot-2S at 1.4 kg is lighter, easier to mount on tall windows by hand. W2 Omni at 1.7 kg is at the upper edge of one-hand mounting. Both come with helper handles.
