Mopping Mechanism

Dreame uses dual rotating round pads with an extending arm: one pad swings out by a few centimeters during edge cleaning so it reaches into corners and along baseboards the round chassis otherwise can't touch. Narwal uses dual rotating round pads without the extending arm — corners and baseboards are reached by the side brush only. Both docks wash and dry the pads with hot water between rooms; both let the mop module retract or lift onto rugs to keep them dry.

Suction: Dreame Wins on Paper

20,000 Pa vs 12,000 Pa. Both are well above the level required for hardwood and tile. On carpet boost the extra 8,000 Pa shows up as deeper-pile pickup, especially for pet hair embedded in low- to medium-pile rugs.

Navigation: A Tie in Practice

Both robots combine LiDAR with a forward-facing sensor for obstacle detection (Dreame uses an AI camera, Narwal uses DToF distance sensors). Dreame can name more specific obstacle types out of the box; DToF gives Narwal slightly more consistent obstacle distance in poor lighting. In normal home use the difference is small.

Dock Differences

Dreame X50's dock is wider and includes a separate solution tank for auto-dispense detergent. Narwal's dock is narrower (better for tight closets) and uses Narwal's proprietary detergent pouches. Both have hot-water pad wash, mop drying, clean and waste water tanks, and self-empty bags.
