Best Robot Buying Guides
Data-driven buying guides that filter our robot database by specific constraints. Every recommendation is backed by objective metrics from our robots.json database—no subjective opinions, just technical specs.
How These Guides Work
Each guide programmatically filters our database using objective criteria (suction power, battery life, slope rating, etc.), then ranks results by the most relevant metric. Winners are chosen by data, not editorial preference.

How We Select Winners
Our Methodology
- Objective Filtering: Each guide uses programmatic filters on our robots.json database (e.g., "suction_pa >= 10000 AND hepa_filter = true")
- Data-Driven Ranking: Results sorted by primary performance metric (suction, slope rating, battery life, value ratio)
- No Editorial Bias: Winners chosen by highest metric score, not subjective preference
- Manufacturer Verified: All specs cross-referenced with official datasheets and CES 2026 announcements
- Monthly Updates: Database refreshed as new models launch and prices change
What We Don't Do
- No Affiliate Manipulation: Rankings are identical whether a product has high or low commission rates
- No Sponsored Placements: Brands cannot pay to appear in these guides
- No Subjective Scoring: We don't assign "overall ratings" based on opinion
- No Cherry-Picking Data: Filter logic and sort criteria are documented in each guide
- No Fake Testing: We aggregate manufacturer specs, not perform testing we didn't do
Understanding Our Filters
Here's how we translate user needs into objective database queries:
| User Need | Database Filter | Why This Works |
|---|---|---|
| Best for pet hair | suction_pa >= 10000 AND hepa_filter = true |
Pet hair requires strong suction + allergen filtration |
| Best for carpet | carpet_boost = true AND suction_pa >= 15000 |
Carpet needs extra power and dedicated boost mode |
| Best budget value | price <= 300, sort by (suction_pa / price) |
Maximizes performance per dollar spent |
| Best for large homes | battery_min >= 180 AND bin_ml >= 400 |
Avoids mid-clean recharge and frequent bin emptying |
| Best for steep hills | max_slope_percent >= 60 |
60% = 31° angle, add 10% safety margin |
| Wire-free lawn mowers | perimeter_wire = false |
Uses RTK GPS or LiDAR instead of boundary wire |
| Quietest robots | noise_db <= 65, sort by noise_db ASC |
65dB = conversational speech level |
| Cordless pool cleaners | cable_length_m = 0 |
Battery-powered, no cable management needed |
